Ihor Huz intends to negotiate the termination of the lease of two UOC monasteries in Volyn with the Ministry of Culture.

People's Deputy of Ukraine Ihor Huz stated in an interview with «Radio BUH» that he plans to speak with Culture Minister Berezhna regarding the termination of the lease for the Zymne and Nyzkynychi monasteries in Volyn.

The deputy criticized the decision of former Volyn Regional State Administration head Yuriy Pohuliayko to extend the lease of the Zymne Monastery until 2069, calling it "dangerous for state interests". According to Huz, a person with patriotic views could not have made such a decision during wartime.

The MP cited the city of Volodymyr as an example where, at the end of January, the Dormition Cathedral was returned to the state and transferred to the OCU after the lease agreement expired and court rulings were issued.

"Soon I plan to meet with the Culture Minister to discuss this issue. Yes, there are legal difficulties, as the lease agreements for Zymne and Nyzkynychi monasteries were extended until 2069 and 2050. But the state has levers – these are NSDC decisions and other legal mechanisms. Therefore, I am confident that these issues will be resolved in the near future," Huz stated.

Earlier, the UOJ wrote that in Volodymyr Dumenko conducted a «liturgy» at the Dormition Cathedral seized from the UOC.
