Metropolitan Onufriy sent words of support to the mother of three young children who were killed, as well as to their father, in Kharkiv Region.

Metropolitan Onufriy of Kharkiv and Bohodukhiv offered his condolences in connection with the tragic events in the city of Bohodukhiv, where civilians – including children – were killed as a result of a strike on a residential building. This was reported by the press service of the Kharkiv Eparchy.

In his address, the hierarch of the UOC emphasized that the entire fullness of the Kharkiv Eparchy shares the grief of the victims’ relatives: “We bow our heads in prayer for the repose of the souls of the innocently slain, and we ask the Lord to receive them into His heavenly dwelling places, where there are no tears, no suffering, no death, but life everlasting.” The archpastor noted that it is especially painful to comprehend the death of small children and their father.

According to the metropolitan, special prayers are being offered for the children’s mother, who has endured a terrible loss and is expecting a child: “May the Lord Himself strengthen her, grant her the strength to live on, cover her with His love, and preserve the life of the unborn infant.” He also assured that the eparchy is continually praying for all those affected by the war, asking God to heal the wounded, comfort the grieving, and grant the long-awaited peace to Slobozhanshchyna and all of Ukraine.

Concluding his message, Metropolitan Onufriy wished God’s mercy to all who mourn and offered a prayer for the repose of the departed.

According to the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, on February 11, 2026, a Russian strike on a home in Bohodukhiv killed two one-year-old boys, a two-year-old girl, and a 34-year-old man; the wounded include a 35-year-old pregnant woman.

As the UOJ previously reported, the Kharkiv and Ternopil Eparchies had earlier expressed condolences to those affected by shelling.
