The Ukrainian Orthodox community in Jena held an aid drive for people in need in Obukhiv, purchasing food supplies for the church kitchen.
In the German city of Jena, parishioners of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, together with representatives of a Lutheran community, raised funds to support the charity kitchen at the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross in the town of Obukhiv, Kyiv Region. The press service of the UOC Department for External Church Relations (DECR) reported this.
The donations were used to purchase food products needed for the kitchen’s daily work. The charity kitchen provides hot lunches to residents of the town who are in need.
The rector of the Ukrainian parish in Jena, Archpriest Serhii Stoliarchuk, expressed gratitude to the Dietrich Bonhoeffer Lutheran community for supporting the initiative.
He noted that this joint service to people became a manifestation of Christian unity and love in action.
As the UOJ previously reported, the UOC’s foreign mission said there have been manipulations surrounding its activities.
