Avraamiy Lotysh said the monastery will become a shelter for veterans who have nowhere to return after the war.

“OCU Lavra superior” Avraamiy Lotysh said in an interview with the Novyny.LIVE channel that his structure is ready to receive, within the reserve, servicemen who are left after the war without a home or family.

“There are many soldiers who have nowhere to return to after the war, because the war destroyed the home, the war destroyed the family. And a monastery is an oasis – a place that always awaits everyone,” he said. Lotysh did not specify under what status these people would live in the Lavra.

According to him, after wars many warriors have traditionally dedicated themselves to God and gone into a monastery. As an example, he cited Venerable Ilya of Murom, who ended his days in the Kyiv Caves monastery.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that the Ministry of Culture will open the Lower Lavra for the “needs of the military.”
