Hollywood Catholic actors remind of the spiritual meaning of Great Lent
Mark Wahlberg i Jonathan Roumie recorded a video message calling for prayer at the beginning of Great Lent.
Hollywood actors Jonathan Roumie, who played Jesus Christ in the popular series "The Chosen," and Mark Wahlberg recorded an appeal in which they reminded about the spiritual meaning of Great Lent and the importance of prayer. This is reported by Stacja 7.
Jonathan Roumie admitted in an interview with the publication that participating in the series brought him closer to Christ. "So much time spent with Jesus has deepened my faith and brought me closer to Jesus himself," he said.
Mark Wahlberg, a Hollywood star and two-time Oscar nominee, is also known for openly speaking about his belonging to the Church and daily dedicating time to prayer and fasting. "Fasting helps to focus and remind what everything is done for," the artist said on an American program.
The actors recorded a short video in which they called on their followers to sty prayed up throughout Lent. In the footage, Wahlberg and Roumie have ash crosses on their foreheads – a sign with which Western Christians mark Ash Wednesday, the beginning of the fasting period before Easter. In the caption to the video, they wished everyone to "stay prayed up."
