Pope warns clergy against writing AI-based sermons
The head of the Roman Catholic Church warned priests about the risks of using digital technologies in ministry.
Pope Leo XIV,during a meeting with the clergy of the Roman diocese, stated that a pastor should not lose personal contact with believers and replace live communication with digital tools. This is reported by Vatican News.
The Pontiff warned against the temptation to use artificial intelligence for preparing sermons and called on priests to rely on personal experience of faith and prayer.
According to the Pope, "true preaching is an exchange of faith," and AI "can never exchange faith."
Leo XIV also noted that modern technologies can lead to isolation and alienation, especially among young people. He reminded his priests of the need for personal presence alongside youth, their families, and those experiencing crisis.
Furthermore, the Pope drew attention to the problem of "spiritual loneliness" among clerics, calling on them to maintain fraternal relationships and avoid "ecclesiastical envy".
