The Ukrainian Orthodox Church’s humanitarian mission provided food and medicines to residents of Kherson Region and frontline towns in Donbas.

On March 1, 2026, clergy and laypeople of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church delivered humanitarian assistance to residents of frontline areas in the south and east of the country, the UOC’s Information and Education Department reported, citing diocesan press services.

On February 27, a shipment containing food, medicines, homemade preserves, baked goods, and sweets arrived in Kherson Region. The collection of aid was organized by Archpriest Roman Luhovyi, rector of the Dormition Church in Khmelnytskyi, and Archpriest Anatolii Mandriuk, rector of the Protection Cathedral of the Chernivtsi Eparchy in Khotyn, together with parishioners.

With the blessing of Metropolitan Ioann of Kherson and Tavria, and with the support of the charitable foundation “Dream of the Future,” the food and essential items were distributed to residents of the Korabelnyi District of Kherson, as well as to Ukrainian servicemen.

The “Zontyk” volunteer movement based at the Ascension Church in Kyiv’s Demiivka district also reported a trip to Donetsk Region. A volunteer named Yurii delivered 100 food packages to Sloviansk, Maiak, Novomykolaivka, and Troitske. The report notes that under conditions of constant shelling and the lack of basic infrastructure, such support is especially vital for elderly and socially vulnerable people.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that children from the Mizhhiria parish of the UOC’s Khust Eparchy had sent aid to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
