U.S. President Donald Trump outlined a series of proposals on election rules and gender policy, including banning men from women’s sports and restricting gender-transition procedures for minors.

On March 5, U.S. President Donald Trump said he was backing what he called the “SAVE America Act,” setting out the main points of the initiative in a post on Truth Social. In that post, he urged Republicans to pass the measure “at the expense of everything else.”

According to Trump, the proposal should include a number of changes to U.S. election law. In particular, he said all voters should be required to show identification when voting and provide documentary proof of U.S. citizenship. Those provisions are consistent with how the White House has described the SAVE America Act in recent materials.

Trump also called for limits on mail-in voting. Under the plan he outlined, ballots sent by mail would be barred except in certain cases, such as illness, disability, military service, or travel. He also said men should be barred from competing in women’s sports, framing the measure as necessary to protect women’s athletics and ensure fair competition.

In addition, Trump said gender-transition procedures for minors should be prohibited unless parents give direct written consent. That position, too, was included in the Truth Social message cited by media reports on the post.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that on November 6, 2025, the U.S. Supreme Court allowed the Trump administration to enforce a passport policy requiring sex markers to reflect biological sex at birth, effectively blocking applicants from choosing markers based on gender identity while the case proceeds. The State Department now says it issues only “M” or “F” markers matching sex at birth.
