Metropolitan Arseniy unable to attend court hearing due to hospitalization
The abbot of the Holy Dormition Sviatohirsk Lavra was absent from a hearing at the Checheliv District Court in Dnipro as he is undergoing inpatient medical examinations at a clinic in Kyiv.
On March 5, 2026, Metropolitan Arseniy, abbot of the Holy Dormition Sviatohirsk Lavra, was unable to attend a court hearing at the Checheliv District Court of Dnipro due to hospitalization, Novosti Donbassa outlet reported.
During the hearing it was stated that Metropolitan Arseniy has been receiving inpatient treatment at a Kyiv clinic since March 3. According to the defense, he is undergoing medical examinations and is temporarily unable to participate in the court proceedings.
“Doctors are conducting tests and examinations. Metropolitan Arseniy will remain in the hospital at least until the end of this week; it is possible he will be allowed to go home for the weekend,” the defendant’s lawyer, Yuriy Zakharchenko, said during the hearing.
The next hearing in the case is scheduled for March 13.
On February 25, the Checheliv District Court of Dnipro changed the preventive measure for the abbot of the Sviatohirsk Lavra from detention to round-the-clock house arrest until April 25, 2026. Metropolitan Arseniy had spent nearly two years in custody – since April 25, 2024.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that UOC lawyer Robert Amsterdam thanked U.S. politicians for their role in securing the release of Metropolitan Arseniy.
