Delegation of Constantinople Patriarchate visits Bulgarian Patriarch
The hierarchs of the Phanar discussed with the head of the Bulgarian Church "the importance of mutual communion in the name of the unity of the Holy Orthodox Church."
A delegation of the Constantinople Patriarchate visited the Primate of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Daniel. The meeting took place on March 12, 2026, at the building of the Sofia Metropolis, reports the press service of the Bulgarian Church.
The delegation included Metropolitan Emmanuel of Chalcedon, Metropolitan Cyril of Imbros and Tenedos, as well as the Grand Ecclesiarch and Director of the Patriarchal Chancellery, Archimandrite Aetios. From the Bulgarian side, Metropolitan Seraphim of Nevrokop and the Vicar of the Sofia Metropolis, Bishop John of Branitsa, participated in the meeting.
It is reported that the guests conveyed fraternal greetings from Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople to the Bulgarian Patriarch and recalled Patriarch Daniel's visit to the Phanar in December of last year.
"The importance of mutual communion in the name of the unity of the Holy Orthodox Church was emphasized," the statement says.
Additionally, representatives of the Patriarchate of Constantinople spoke about preparations for celebrations marking the 35th anniversary of the patriarchal ministry and the 65th anniversary of the diaconal ordination of Patriarch Bartholomew. The celebrations are planned to be held on the island of Imbros – the Patriarch's birthplace.
