UOC dioceses deliver food and gifts to children and people with disabilities
Faithful and clergy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church continue to provide food, support children, and assist people in need.
Charitable work continues across the dioceses of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, where clergy and parishioners are helping people with disabilities, children, and others in need. This was reported by the UOC Synodal Department for Social and Humanitarian Affairs.
In the Zhytomyr Diocese, clergy and parishioners of St. Nicholas Cathedral in Berdychiv delivered aid to people with visual impairments. The Berdychiv branch of the Ukrainian Society of the Blind received bread and other baked goods, cereals, sugar, preserved foods, apples, and bottled water. The parish also sent assistance to the local Union of People with Disabilities.
In the Mukachevo Eparchy, children from the Uzhhorod orphanage run by the NGO “My New Family” were taken on a trip to St. Nicholas Monastery. The children venerated holy sites, received commemorative gifts, and also visited Palanok Castle and the Zhaivoronok wellness complex.
In the Nizhyn Eparchy, parishioners of the Archangel Michael Church in Bobrovytsia collected food and prepared homemade meals for Ukraine’s defenders, along with children’s drawings bearing messages of support. In the Oleksandriia Eparchy, another charitable meal was organized for those in need, while in the Poltava Eparchy, traditional charity meals were held after the services.
In the Sumy Eparchy, assistance was provided through a charitable fundraiser with the participation of communities from the cathedral and city parishes. In the Khust Eparchy, special mention was made of the contribution of clergy and parishioners who continue to support those in need.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that priests and laypeople from several UOC dioceses donated blood for wounded soldiers.
