People's Deputy Ihor Huz said that the OCU promises the development of monastic and pilgrimage life in the Myltsi Monastery after its transition from the UOC.

On March 18, 2026, MP Ihor Huz wrote on his Facebook page that OCU representatives assured him that after the monastery in the village of Myltsi is handed to the OCU, the development of monastic and pilgrimage life will be ensured.

According to the deputy, during his trip to Volyn Polissia, he visited Kovel, Ratne and Stara Vyzhivka districts, where he held meetings with priests, parishioners and local activists. "I met with priests, parishioners and active people who are ready to do everything possible so that after the transition of the monastery in Myltsi to the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, monastic and pilgrimage life would thrive here," he noted.

Huz reported that he visited the Myltsi Monastery, which, according to him, should soon transfer to the OCU. "I visited the famous monastery, which will also soon transfer to the Orthodox Church of Ukraine. This place has always been sacred for pilgrims and has become a center of Ukrainian Orthodoxy in Polissia," the deputy stated.

In addition, he spoke about legal actions regarding the monastery's monastics. "I also want to note that the Volyn Regional Military Administration is filing a lawsuit demanding the eviction of the UOC brotherhood from the Myltsi monastery due to the expiration of the lease term on January 1, 2026," Huz wrote.

Earlier, the UOJ wrote that a commission arrived at the Michael Myltsi monastery of the UOC in Volyn for an inspection, the purpose of which was "measurements of architectural structures". Officials examined all the monastery's premises and conducted measurements of the buildings. Parishioners asked to convey to the authorities the necessity of extending the lease, noting that the fate of the brotherhood and believers depends on this. At the same time, many viewed the visit as an alarming signal, believing that it could precede the transfer of the monastery to the OCU.
