The message was addressed to Locum Tenens Metropolitan Shio and the fullness of the Georgian Church, which, as the letter states, “has lost a beloved shepherd,” and was sent on behalf of the clergy and faithful of the Church of Antioch.
“With deep sorrow, we received the news of the repose of our brother, Catholicos and Patriarch of Georgia, Ilia II. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the members of the Georgian Church and pray to the Lord God for the repose of his soul,” the message reads.
