Monastic tonsure performed in Khust Eparchy of UOC
UOC cleric Archpriest Dimitry Shutko took monastic vows with the name Dorophey.
On March 27, 2026, by the blessing of Metropolitan Mark of Khust and Vynohradiv, monastic tonsure was performed in the UOC Church of the "Nankivska" Icon of the Mother of God in the village of Nankovo, reports the press service of the Khust Eparchy of the UOC.
The service was led by the vicar of the eparchy, Bishop Mark of Rakhiv.
During the rite of tonsure, Archpriest Dimitry Shutko received monasticism, taking the name Dorophey. During the service, the newly tonsured hieromonk took vows of obedience, renunciation of the world, and complete dedication of himself to God and the Church.
As noted in the report, monastic tonsure is a special spiritual step symbolizing the aspiration to spiritual life and renunciation of the worldly.
"May the Merciful Lord strengthen the newly-tonsured hieromonk Dorophey in his monastic endeavor, grant him spiritual strength, humility and zeal in service to the glory of God," wrote the eparchy.
As the UOJ wrote, monastic tonsure was performed at St. George's Metochion of the Horodok Monastery.
