OCU: Filaret did not want UOC-KP to exist after his death
The OCU insists that Filaret wanted the Kyiv Patriarchate to cease to exist after his death.
A statement published on the official website of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine claims that Filaret allegedly did not want the Kyiv Patriarchate to continue existing after his repose.
“If the late His Holiness Patriarch Filaret had truly possessed the will and desire for some institution separate from the OCU to exist after his repose, then over the previous seven years he had every opportunity to publicly formalize such a decision, announce a course of action after his death, and so forth,” the statement says.
According to OCU representatives, Filaret had in recent years allegedly “emphasized the need for church unity” with the OCU. As proof, the statement cites the meeting between Filaret and Epifaniy in November 2025.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that, according to an OCU statement, it does not recognize ordinations performed by Filaret after the granting of the Tomos.
