The Prime Minister of Israel congratulated believers on Easter and promised to protect freedom of conscience even under missile attacks.

Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu congratulated the Christian world on Easter and declared that in the Middle Eastern region only his country guarantees security for the followers of Christ, reports the Embassy of Israel in Ukraine.

In his address, the politician emphasized that in many neighboring states believers face brutal persecution. According to the head of government, Christians are subjected to persecution in Syria, Lebanon, Turkey, Nigeria and other countries.

"Christians are persecuted across the Middle East, in Syria, Lebanon, Nigeria, Turkey and beyond. But in our region, Israel alone protects our Christian community which is growing and prospering," declared Benjamin Netanyahu. "In this land where the story began, as missiles are fired at our capital, the holy city of Jerusalem, and as the US and Israel stand firm against the Iranian regime and its terror proxies, we continue to steadfastly protect the freedom of worship for all faiths, especially at this sacred time.."

Netanyahu noted that the authorities will not change their position even against the backdrop of missile attacks on Jerusalem and confrontation with the Iranian regime.

"Even under fire, our commitment is unwavering: to defend life, to safeguard liberty, and to ensure that every believer can pray in peace," emphasized the Prime Minister.

Earlier, the UOJ wrote that Israeli authorities did not allow a RCC bishop into the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.
