Memory of St. Anastasia commemorated at Kyiv Protection Monastery
Metropolitan Pavel led the festive service and procession on the occasion of the monastery’s patronal feast.
On April 16, 2026, Bright Thursday, a solemn service was celebrated at the Protection Convent in Kyiv on the feast day of St. Anastasia of Kyiv. According to a post on the Facebook page of the UOC Chancellor’s Office, the festal Liturgy for the monastery’s patronal feast was led by Metropolitan Pavel of Vyshhorod and Chornobyl, abbot of the Kyiv Caves Lavra.
Concelebrating with the hierarch were Metropolitan Anthony of Boryspil and Brovary, Chancellor of the UOC; Metropolitan Clement of Nizhyn and Pryluky, head of the UOC Information and Education Department; a host of bishops; and numerous clergy. The choir of the sisters of the Protection Monastery sang during the service.
During the Liturgy, clergy and laity offered special prayers for peace in Ukraine. After the service, the hierarchs and faithful held a solemn procession around the monastery grounds. At the end of the celebrations, Metropolitan Pavel addressed those gathered with an archpastoral homily.
St. Anastasia of Kyiv, in the world Grand Duchess Alexandra Petrovna, was the founder of the Protection Convent. The monastery traditionally celebrates her memory on Bright Thursday.
