Thousands take part in March for Life in Warsaw to defend family and faith
Polish President Karol Nawrocki joined the mass procession held to mark the 1,060th anniversary of the Baptism of Poland.
On April 19, 2026, thousands of Poles took part in the National March for Life, which passed through the central streets of Warsaw. According to PCh24.pl, the event was a nationwide initiative in defense of unborn children, the family, and Christian ideals.
The event began in Castle Square after solemn services in Warsaw’s cathedrals. Participants marched through the city center, passing Piłsudski Square and Krakowskie Przedmieście. Near the Presidential Palace, President Karol Nawrocki joined the procession together with Fr. Jarosław Wąsowicz.
“Thousands of people in the heart of Warsaw are showing how important life and family are for Poland. That is why the President of Poland could not but be here today,” Nawrocki said, thanking Polish families for their faithfulness to tradition.
This year’s march slogan, “Faith and Fidelity 966–2026,” refers to the 1,060th anniversary of the Baptism of Poland, which the country marked on April 14. The organizers from the St. Benedict Foundation stressed that such events remain necessary as fundamental human rights are increasingly being called into question in Europe and around the world – the right to life, the protection of the family, and the right to raise children in accordance with one’s convictions.
Such mass demonstrations in defense of Christian identity clearly show society consolidating around traditional values amid growing pressure from secular ideologies. The firm stance of the people and the support shown by the state leadership for the Church are becoming an important example of how the spiritual foundations of society can be preserved.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that Orthodox Christians in Germany took part in March for Life in Munich.
