Clergy of Serbian and Greek Churches celebrate Divine Liturgy in Belgrade
A joint Divine Liturgy of clergy from the Serbian and Greek Churches was celebrated in the Serbian capital with the participation of pilgrims from Greece, underscoring the unity of the faith.
On April 19, a joint Divine Liturgy of clergy from the Serbian and Greek Orthodox Churches was celebrated in Belgrade with the participation of pilgrims from Greece, UOJ in Serbia reports.
The Belgrade shrine welcomed about 50 pilgrims from Greece. The service was led by Archimandrite Spyridon from Thessaloniki of the Greek Orthodox Church. Concelebrating with him were representatives of the Serbian Orthodox Church – the clergy of the Church of St. Simeon headed by Archimandrite Danilo, as well as the rector of the Karlovci Theological Seminary, Protopresbyter-Stavrophor Jovan Milanović.
The church was filled with worshippers praying in Serbian and Greek, which highlighted the spiritual unity of the two peoples.
In his sermon, Jovan Milanović noted that this period is called Renewal Week because the faith and hope of believers are renewed. He stressed that the apostles, inspired by Christ’s Resurrection, became fearless witnesses of the victory over death.
At the end of the Liturgy, Archimandrite Danilo thanked the guests from Greece for their participation and emphasized the importance of brotherly fellowship. He called on the faithful to keep prayer in their hearts and to live with the confession: “My Lord and my God.”
After the service, the celebrations continued with a cultural program featuring performing groups from Belgrade and the Greek community.
Earlier, the UOJ wrote that 13 Argentinians were received into Orthodoxy at a Serbian church in Buenos Aires.
