In Paphos, Cyprus, supporters of Metropolitan Tychikos gathered in the square with banners, demanding his reinstatement and adherence to Church canons.

On April 26, 2026, a rally in support of Metropolitan Tychikos took place in Paphos, Cyprus: his supporters gathered in the square outside City Hall with banners and slogans in his defense, UOJ in Greece reports.

The participants held banners expressing support for the hierarch. One of them stated that the reason for his persecution was his struggle against ecumenism.

The protesters put forward a number of demands, including the reinstatement of Metropolitan Tychikos, observance of the sacred canons, and the preservation of lay participation in the election of bishops.

The organizers stressed that the rally was peaceful and aimed at drawing attention to the situation surrounding the hierarch, as well as defending Church principles.

After the rally ended, participants marched to the building of the Paphos Metropolis in order, as they said, to “loudly declare the position of the people.”

Earlier, the UOJ reported that Metropolitan Tychikos’s lawyers had responded to allegations in the media.
