TRC abducts cleric of Bancheny Monastery but releases him after believers' rally
Hundreds of believers gathered at the gates of the TRC in Chernivtsi. Military commissars released the abducted archimandrite of the Bancheny Monastery.
On April 27, 2026, TRC officers abducted a monk of the Bancheny Monastery Archimandrite Sergius, who is a guardian of disabled children. Metropolitan Longin and hundreds of UOC believers gathered near the TRC building in Chernivtsi, demanding the release of the clergyman.
“Freedom for guardians!” the crowd chanted.
After a short time, the military commissars released the clergyman.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that the TRC abducted a monk of the Odesa Monastery Archimandrite Rufin.
