The head of the UOC-KP has accepted a monastery and parishes in Greece into his structure.

On May 2, 2026, UOC-KP “Patriarch” Nikodym announced the creation of a Greek eparchy within the Kyiv Patriarchate. He appointed “Archbishop” Iakovos Yannakis as its ruling hierarch, naming him “administrator of the eparchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyiv Patriarchate in Greece” with the title “of Simferopol and Yevpatoria.”

The new eparchy includes the abbot and brethren of the Panagia Glyfokilousa Monastery in Keratea; the rector and clergy of the Church of St. Therapon in Ano Liosia; the Church of St. Paisios and the Church of the Life-Giving Spring in Attica; and the Church of St. Cosmas of Aetolia.

“Step by step, we are establishing the Kyiv Patriarchate!” Nikodym wrote.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that the UOC-KP had appointed a “bishop” for Czechia.
