MP Anna Skorokhod said the practice of turning to clairvoyants is widespread throughout Ukraine’s entire chain of power.

Ukrainian parliamentarian Anna Skorokhod has said that many members of the Verkhovna Rada make important state decisions only after consulting fortune-tellers and clairvoyants. The MP made the statement on Facebook.

The post was prompted by a court hearing at which it was stated that former head of the President’s Office Andriy Yermak appointed officials to posts after first agreeing the candidates with occult practitioners. Skorokhod said such information did not surprise her: according to her, many of her parliamentary colleagues also rely on the advice of clairvoyants and psychics when making key decisions.

“Do you know how many people’s deputies in the Verkhovna Rada make important decisions after consulting fortune-tellers, clairvoyants and other such ‘specialists’? You would be very surprised. And by the way, this is typical of the entire chain of power. I find it funny, but it really exists,” she said in a video address.

The deputy pointed to the growing number of “great mediums” and charlatans who openly claim that influential people come to them and pay money. Skorokhod said she herself treats this with irony.

As the UOJ reported, Yermak sought advice from a fortune-teller before important appointments – information voiced by a prosecutor during a court hearing. The subject of occultism in Ukrainian politics periodically surfaces in public discourse: religious scholars and public observers have noted interest in occult practices within various branches of power in the country.
