In a special address, the U.S. vice president emphasized the role of faith in the moral foundations of society and drew attention to young people’s interest in church life.

U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance said in a special video address that faith has been and remains the foundation on which the American state stands, warning of catastrophic consequences should the country abandon its Christian roots.

According to him, this truth was self-evident to the Founding Fathers, and any attempt to damage that foundation would inevitably destroy the values that make Americans one people. “The morality and religion that formed the America’s consciousness were decidedly Christian, founded upon the principles and the divinity of Jesus Christ,” the politician emphasized.

Vance is convinced that the entire legal system and social institutions, such as justice, generosity toward one’s neighbors, and respect for conscience, flow precisely from this religious heritage. In his view, without recognizing that God loves us, people are left with little reason or inspiration to love one another.

The vice president paid special attention to the spiritual attitudes of the new generation. He said that, contrary to experts’ predictions about the “death” of religion, a whole wave of young Americans is now returning to churches in search of meaning, authority, and closeness to God.

In conclusion, Vance asked his fellow citizens to pray for him, the president, and the entire White House administration, invoking the Creator's blessings for wisdom and courage in leading the country.

As previously reported by the UOJ, Patriarch Theophilos received J.D. Vance in Jerusalem. The theme of religious identity had already been raised in the politician’s contacts with the religious community. What will remain important is to observe how these statements are transformed into public decisions, and not only into moral formulas.
