Provocateurs gather outside Kyiv court hearing UOC case
Activists are stationed outside the court in Kyiv. One of them threatened parishioners with a weapon during the storming of St. Michael’s Cathedral in Cherkasy.
On May 19, 2026, the Cassation Administrative Court at 5 Kniaziv Ostrozkykh Street in Kyiv is due to hear an appeal by the Kyiv Metropolia of the UOC against the ruling to separate the claims in the case seeking the liquidation of the Kyiv Metropolia of the UOC, attorney Archpriest Nikita Chekman reports.
According to him, the court, for unclear reasons, refused to request important documents from the court of first instance for a second time, prompting the attorneys to file a motion to recuse the panel of judges.
According to UOJ, provocateurs began gathering outside the courthouse, among them activist Davyd Pshenychnyi, who threatened people with a pistol during the storming of St. Michael’s Cathedral in Cherkasy. Sources say the hearing may be at risk of being disrupted. Police are not responding to the actions of those gathered.
The attorneys are asking believers for prayerful support.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that the UOC commented on the court’s annulment of the DESS expert review.
