Thousands of believers honor St. Job at Pochaiv Lavra
A festive service and cross procession with the relics of St. Job were held at the Holy Dormition Pochaiv Lavra.
On May 19, 2026, thousands of faithful of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church honored the memory of St. Job of Pochaiv at the Holy Dormition Pochaiv Lavra. The celebrations drew pilgrims from across Ukraine, who came to the monastery to venerate the great ascetic, the UOC Information Center reports.
The Divine Liturgy in the Transfiguration Cathedral was celebrated by Metropolitan Kliment of Nizhyn and Pryluky. He was joined by UOC hierarchs, the monastery brethren, and numerous visiting clergy. On the eve of the feast, a solemn All-Night Vigil was served at the monastery, during which an akathist to St. Job was read.
After the service, the bishops, clergy, and thousands of laypeople processed through the Lavra grounds. To the sound of prayerful hymns, the faithful carried the incorrupt relics of St. Job to the Cave Church, where they permanently rest. At the conclusion, the abbot of the Lavra, Metropolitan Volodymyr, thanked the archpastors, brethren, and pilgrims for their common prayer on this significant day for the monastery.
As previously reported, the Pochaiv Lavra had invited the faithful to celebrations marking the uncovering of the relics of St. Job. The commemoration of St. Job is one of the key dates in the monastery’s church calendar, traditionally drawing large numbers of pilgrims and clergy.
