Milica was born into a Muslim family, but after several years of spiritual searching, she was baptized – a path that opened through the Liturgy, prayer, and Christ's love.

A parishioner of the Serbian Church in the Slovenian city of Nova Gorica told the UOJ in Serbia in an interview why she left Islam and converted to Orthodoxy.

"I was born a Muslim, but throughout my life I searched for what faith truly represents for me – love, peace, and purity of soul. I felt that most deeply only in Orthodoxy," says Milica.

According to her, the path to the Church began in 2019 – through Christmas celebrations, baptisms among Orthodox friends and spiritual content on the Internet. "Through them I learned more about the faith, customs, and beauty of that way of life," says Milica.

She attended the Liturgy for the first time in June 2025. "It was then that I felt for the first time as if I finally belonged somewhere. The smell of incense, the icons, the prayer, and the peace I felt then left a deep mark on me...," she recalls. Before baptism, Milica fainted twice during the Liturgy, but she experienced that as a special sign and call to Christ, as something that further strengthened her in her decision.

The baptism took place on October 9, 2025. Special support on this path was provided by her friend Amos, who had embraces Orthodoxy a year earlier, as well as her godmother Dragana and spiritual father, Fr. Miroslav.

"I believe that in the end, all we need is a pure soul and the love of Christ," Milica concluded.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that in Kosovo two US military personnel were baptized in the Serbian Orthodox Church.
