UOC monk detained by enlistment officers released
The Khmelnytskyi Eparchy reported that after undergoing a military medical commission, Archimandrite Galaktion (Redei) was released back to his monastery.
On May 27, 2026, Archimandrite Galaktion (Redei), a monk of the UOC’s St. John the Baptist Monastery in the village of Velyka Kalynivka, was released from the Khmelnytskyi city TRC. The Khmelnytskyi Eparchy press service reported this.
According to the eparchy, the clergyman was released after his personal data were checked and he underwent a military medical commission.
Archimandrite Galaktion has now returned to his monastery, where he has served for nearly 20 years as a monk and spiritual father.
The eparchy thanked everyone who helped secure the clergyman’s return.
“We sincerely thank all people of goodwill who helped Archimandrite Galaktion return to his native monastic community,” the statement said.
As reported earlier by the UOJ, on May 24, representatives of the enlistment office, together with local officials and police, arrived at St. John the Baptist Monastery in Velyka Kalynivka and took Archimandrite Galaktion from his monastic cell after the Divine Liturgy.
