A Congress of Matushkas Was Held in the Rivne Eparchy

Metropolitan Pimen discussed family values and the role of matushka in parish life with priests' wives.

On June 5, 2026, the second congress of matushkas from the Rivne Eparchy of the UOC took place at the skete in honor of Saint Spyridon of Trimythous and Saint Nectarios of Aegina. About 30 wives of clergy from various deaneries of the eparchy participated in the event. This was reported by the eparchy's press service.

The congress participants were received by Metropolitan Pimen of Rivne and Ostroh. According to tradition, the meeting began with a common prayer.

The main theme of this forum was family values, Christian marriage, and the special calling of a priest's wife. His Grace Pimen emphasized that a matushka is the priest's closest helper, and the spiritual health of the community largely depends on the atmosphere of love and peace in the cleric's family.

Lectures for the participants were delivered by Archpriest Alexander Zhuk, Archpriest John Dyachuk, and psychologist Elena Korol. The speakers covered topics of Christian marriage, child-rearing, causes of divorce, and current challenges of modernity. At the conclusion of the meeting, the hierarch personally prepared lunch for the matushkas and presented them with souvenirs.

The eparchy noted that such meetings contribute to strengthening Orthodox families, exchanging experience among matushkas, and preserving traditional Christian values.

As SPZh reported, the youth congress "Cup of Unity" started in the Rivne Eparchy.
