Baptist Pastor Becomes Responsible for the Death of Four People in Kyiv

Protestant community leader rams underground passage with car.

On the evening of June 5, 2026, in Kiev at the intersection of Vadim Hetman and Konstantin Ushinsky streets, a large-scale fatal traffic accident occurred. A 49-year-old driver lost control of his vehicle, as a result of which the car flew off the roadway at high speed and crashed into an underground passage. This is reported by FOCUS.UA.

Four people died at the scene of the tragedy, including two police officers on duty and a 12-year-old boy. Three more pedestrians were injured.

The driver turned out to be Pavel Valerievich Pleshivtsev, a native of Kherson. The man heads a religious community of Evangelical Baptist Christians "Church of Podstepnoye Village." Rescuers freed Pleshivtsev from the wrecked car, after which he was taken to intensive care, where he remains under police custody.

It was revealed that the Baptist leader systematically ignored traffic rules. Pleshivtsev was repeatedly fined for speeding, and in just the first half of 2026 alone, he had already been involved in four accidents. The prosecutor's office has initiated a pre-trial investigation into the deaths.

As SPJ reported, in the Lviv region, a drunk cleric of the OCU committed a triple traffic accident with a fatality.
