Patriarch Bartholomew will present the new exarch of Lithuania in Vilnius

During his visit to Lithuania, Patriarch Bartholomew will hold a meeting with community members.

On June 6, 2026, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew will arrive in Vilnius to meet with the local Orthodox community. The head of the Phanar plans to personally lead the ceremonial events and present his new representative in Lithuania to the faithful. This is reported by VEMA.

The trip of the head of the Constantinople Church to the Lithuanian capital will last two days and cover the period from June 6 to 7. The main event of the visit will be the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Trinity Church, which the Patriarch will conduct on Sunday, June 7.

Together with Bartholomew, the recently appointed exarch of Lithuania will participate in the divine service. After the completion of the Liturgy, Patriarch Bartholomew intends to hold a meeting with members of the community that is under the jurisdiction of the Ecumenical Patriarchate. During the discussion, the parties plan to discuss the current state of affairs and prospects for the development of the church structure in the country.

It should be recalled that on May 26, 2026, the Holy Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate elected Panarettos Psaraftis as Bishop of Tamissos. At the same time, the Synod appointed him as exarch of the Ecumenical Patriarch in Lithuania. Patriarch Bartholomew performed the ordination of the new hierarch on May 31, 2026, on the day of Pentecost. The ordination ceremony was conducted in the patriarchal cathedral of Saint George at the Phanar.
