Yelensky named the number of conflicts due to transfers to the OCU
The head of the State Service for Ethnic Policy and Freedom of Conscience believes that information about conflicts disseminated in the media does not correspond to reality.
On June 3, 2026, a press conference took place in Kiev dedicated to the results of a study on the religious situation, where Viktor Yelensky, head of the State Service for Ethnopolitics, attempted to minimize the scale of inter-confessional confrontation in the regions.
The official claims that tensions between communities due to forced transitions to Dumenko's structure allegedly exist only in "slightly less than 20 settlements".
According to Yelensky, media reports about mass clashes related to transitions do not correspond to reality. The conducted study confirms that "Ukrainians are extremely tolerant in the religious dimension".
As SPJ reported, a UOC archimandrite was beaten during the seizure of a cathedral in Kremenchug, forcing the clergyman to seek medical assistance.
