Catholic nun opens transgender support group at convent
The nun says she believes the Roman Catholic Church will eventually recognize a person’s right to change sex.
In St. Louis, Missouri, 81-year-old Catholic nun Nancy Corcoran has created a support group for parents of transgender children in the motherhouse of her order. The member of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet has openly rejected Christian teaching on sex and begun promoting gender ideology within convent walls, LifeSiteNews reports.
Sister Nancy said she holds regular meetings for around two dozen Catholic families who support transgender ideology. The nun stated that she came to understand “unconditional love” through activist gatherings rather than through decades of monastic life.
She decided to devote herself fully to this work ten years ago after meeting a transgender student. Corcoran expressed firm confidence that the Catholic Church will eventually revise its doctrine and recognize a person’s right to change sex.
The leadership of the Archdiocese of St. Louis has officially denied any connection with the nun’s program. Communications Director Brett Mulvihill stressed that the project is not part of the official structure of the city’s Catholic community.
As previously reported by the UOJ, a Methodist church in the United States supported a law on sex change for children.
