Hierarch of the UOC Consecrated Veneration Crosses and Chapel in the Village of Vartikovtsy
Bishop Job of Kitsman performed the consecration of the cemetery and offered prayers for the repose of the deceased residents of the Bukovinian village.
On June 2, 2026, Bishop Job of Kitsman performed the consecration of worship crosses, a chapel, and a cemetery in the village of Vartikovtsy, Dniester district of Chernivtsi region. This was reported by believers of the Chernivtsi-Bukovinian Eparchy.
The hierarch was concelebrated by the dean of the Kelmentsy district, mitred archpriest John Protsyuk, and the clergy of the eparchy.
After the rite of consecration, Bishop Job performed a memorial service for all the deceased buried in the local cemetery and offered prayers for the repose of their souls.
As noted, a significant part of the work on cemetery improvement, installation of worship crosses, and acquisition of land for future burials was carried out with the active participation of a native of Vartikovtsy — Archpriest Zacharias Kerstyuk. For the priest, this place has special significance, as his mother rests here, whose memory he carefully preserves.
The eparchy emphasized that the consecration became an important event for the village residents and a testimony to the care for preserving Orthodox traditions, improving burial sites, and prayerful remembrance of the departed.
As SPJ wrote, Metropolitan Longin headed the patronal feast of the UOC monastery in Molnitsa.
