In five Latin American countries, local communities have grown significantly due to the indigenous population, with another 80 catechumens preparing for Baptism.

The Romanian Orthodox Metropolia of America recorded significant growth in the number of faithful during the period from Pascha to Pentecost 2026. During this short period, 50 people officially joined Orthodoxy through the Sacraments of Baptism and Chrismation. This was reported by the Metropolis's press service.

The majority of new community members are indigenous residents of Latin America who discovered the apostolic faith through liturgical services in their native languages and active educational activities of missionaries.

The community in Chile received the largest number of new believers - 18 people. In Ecuador, 12 local residents joined the Church, in Colombia - 10, in Venezuela - 7, and in Mexican Cancun, one adult believer joined the Orthodox ranks. The preparation of each candidate for the Sacrament lasts at least six months and includes deep study of Holy Scripture, dogmas, and liturgical life.

Missionaries note that another 80 people are currently at various stages of catechesis. The success of the mission in the Romanian Church is attributed to people's personal encounter with the beauty of unchanged faith and the accessibility of prayer in a language they understand. These events confirm that the Holy Spirit continues to gather people from all nations into the unity of faith and participation in the Eucharist.

As the UOJ reported, ten Americans embraced Orthodoxy in Oregon state on the Feast of Holy Trinity.
