UOC priest wounded in drone strike in Bilopillia
Priest Maksym Andrukhov sustained shrapnel wounds to his arm, head and leg; his mother Valentyna was also injured.
On June 11, 2026, in the town of Bilopillia in the Sumy Eparchy, Priest Maksym Andrukhov was injured in a Russian drone strike, the diocesan press service of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church reported.
The drone attack occurred while Father Maksym was riding a motorcycle through Bilopillia, Sumy District. As a result of the explosion, the priest suffered shrapnel wounds to his arm, head and leg. His mother, Valentyna, was also injured: doctors provided her with the necessary care and stitched her wounds.
Father Maksym was hospitalized. Doctors carried out the necessary procedures, removed shrapnel fragments and dressed his wounds. The priest is now at home. According to his relatives, his condition is stable and the most difficult period has passed.
The Sumy Diocese asks the faithful to pray for the healing of Priest Maksym and the servant of God Valentyna.
As UOJ reported, a priest of the UOC’s Pokrovsk Vicariate was earlier killed in Kostiantynivka.
