OCU clerics visit Kharkiv mosque for Eid al-Adha
Participants in the interreligious meeting discussed chaplaincy ministry and cooperation under wartime conditions.
On June 12, 2026, on the occasion of the Islamic holiday of Eid al-Adha, a meeting of military chaplains from various religious organizations was held at the Al-Manar center in Kharkiv. This was reported by the Congress of Muslims of Ukraine.
The event was attended by OCU “clergy,” including “Bishop” Mitrofan of Kharkiv and Slobozhanshchyna. The guests congratulated Muslims of the region on the holiday, wishing the community peace, goodness, and God’s blessing.
During the visit, the chaplains were given an introductory tour, where they were told about the activities of the Muslim community in Kharkiv region, as well as the center’s educational, social, and charitable projects.
Particular attention was given to spiritual support for servicemen. Khadzhymurad Putylin, head of the Department of Military Chaplaincy of Muslims of Ukraine, briefed those present on the specifics of Muslim chaplains’ ministry at the front and their contribution to strengthening the morale of defenders. Cooperation among chaplains of different denominations was also discussed as a separate topic.
Participants in the meeting noted that interreligious dialogue today plays a significant role in consolidating Ukrainian society. Representatives of various organizations emphasized shared values, including love for one’s neighbor, assistance to those in need, and spiritual care for soldiers.
