In Britain, a gay couple was convicted of the brutal murder of their adopted son
The guardians tormented the 13-month-old baby for months for amusement, while the British child protection system believed their excuses.
A British court handed down a harsh sentence to a “family couple” who for several months tortured and sexually abused a 13-month-old baby, ultimately murdering him. This was reported by The Guardian.
British teacher Jamie Varley will spend the rest of his life in prison for the brutal killing of his adopted son Preston Davey. The court sentenced him to life imprisonment without the possibility of early release. His partner, John McGowan-Fazakerley, received 25 years in prison for complicity in the torture and sexual abuse of the child.
The investigation established that the defendants treated the baby like a “toy.” During the short time the boy lived in their home, he was regularly beaten and abused. Forensic pathologists recorded more than 40 injuries on the child’s body.
In July 2023, Varley brought Preston’s lifeless body to the hospital and put on a “performance” before the medics as a grief-stricken parent. He tried to convince doctors that the child had accidentally drowned in the bath, but the medical examination completely disproved his claims.
The boy died from suffocation or from having foreign objects forcibly shoved into his mouth. Later, police found videos on Varley’s phone showing the abuse of the baby.
The tragedy caused a wave of outrage in British society and raised questions about the guardianship system. It emerged that in the final weeks of the child’s life, he had been seen by an entire “group of specialists” — social workers, doctors, and nurses. A social worker visited the home 20 days before the boy’s death but did not notice any danger. The specialists believed every explanation for the child’s injuries simply because Varley worked as a respected secondary school teacher.
Little Preston was born in prison, where his biological mother was serving a sentence. For the first nine months, he lived with a normal foster family, where he was a happy and cheerful child, until the authorities transferred him to a homosexual couple.
