Cardinal Gerhard Müller stated that modern Europe is turning into a testing ground for atheistic experiments.

During a conference titled “Eurogender Diktat: Christian Roots, Religious & Educational Freedom at Risk in the EU” held in Rome, the former Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith and other speakers discussed the dangerous consequences of European Union policies, particularly those reinforcing gender ideology, reports Life Site News.

According to the cardinal, a break from the Christian heritage deprives European culture of the moral foundation on which the concepts of freedom, equality, and human dignity were built. Müller emphasized that without the Gospel, Europe will "suicidally give itself over to its downfall."

He identified the imposition of gender ideology as one of the primary threats, arguing that it denies biological reality and the Divine order, replacing them with social constructs. In his view, instead of open persecution, authorities use "bureaucracy, regulation, and cultural pressure" to push believers out of public life.

Müller is convinced that the future of the continent depends on the ability of Europeans to once again acknowledge their Christian foundations, rather than abandoning them for the sake of political expediency. He noted that the crisis of marriage and family currently being experienced by the EU is a direct consequence of attempts to artificially reshape human nature.

As the UOJ reported, a German cardinal called the blessing of same-sex unions "blasphemy."
