Ukrainian state broadcaster marks LGBT Flag Day
Suspilne published several Facebook posts marking the anniversary of the rainbow flag.
Ukraine’s state broadcaster Suspilne published several posts on its Facebook pages on June 25 marking LGBT Flag Day. One such post appeared on Suspilne’s official Facebook page.
Suspilne Kultura wrote that the LGBT flag had “united people around the world,” that attempts to “treat” homosexuals had amounted to “real torture,” and that there is now a flag with “stripes of Ukrainian identity.” Suspilne also added the colors of the LGBT flag to its logo.
The state media outlet’s posts drew reaction on social media, with many users sharply criticizing the publication of such content by a state broadcaster.
Suspilne Novyny also released a post in support of LGBT, saying the channel “expresses solidarity and support for the LGBTQ+ community and defends rights and freedoms in Ukraine.”
Previously, the UOJ reported that an openly homosexual person was appointed Deputy Minister of Culture.
