The Cabinet of Ministers and the Institute of National Memory are to compile lists of individuals to be commemorated on the territory of the Lavra.

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has adopted a resolution establishing the Ukrainian National Pantheon on the grounds of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra National Reserve. This was reported by the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists on Facebook.

In the memorial complex, the authorities plan to honor “outstanding representatives of the nation,” including the leadership of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA). The government has instructed the Ministry of Culture to identify the exact site for the facility in the historic part of the monastery and to hold an architectural competition.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with the Institute of National Memory, will address the reburial of figures currently buried abroad. Deputy Head of the Office of the President Iryna Vereshchuk confirmed that the Cabinet has already ordered issues of funding and the compilation of lists of persons for the Pantheon to be resolved.

Earlier, the Verkhovna Rada backed a bill on the organization of the memorial. The head of state said he intended to sign the adopted law without delay.
