A religious procession of the UOC has begun in Chernivtsi Oblast heading to Kreshchatyk
UOC faithful are walking to the Monastery of St. John the Theologian in Kreshchatyk; according to eyewitnesses, more than a thousand people are already taking part in the procession.
On July 4, 2026, UOC faithful in Chernivtsi Oblast began a religious procession to the monastery in honor of the Holy Apostle John the Theologian in the village of Kreshchatyk, according to participants of the procession.
According to the published route, the pilgrims set out from the Church of the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos in Chernivtsi on Kashtanova Street, 37. The procession then passes through Zadubrivka, Shubranets, Vaslovivtsi, Maly Kuchurov, Zastavna, Chunky, Kadubivtsi, Kulivtsi, and Zvenyachyn.
The final point of the route is the monastery in honor of the Holy Apostle John the Theologian in the village of Kreshchatyk. The total length of the route is approximately 38.7 kilometers, with an estimated travel time of about 13 hours.
According to eyewitnesses, more than a thousand faithful were already participating at the very start of the procession. Participants expect that by the time the procession concludes, the number of pilgrims may grow to several thousand.
In the village of Vaslovivtsi, the procession was met by a persecuted UOC religious community, which offered support to the participants. It is also reported that in Kreshchatyk, police fined a driver who had brought people to the starting point of the procession.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that a religious procession with a reliquary of the holy saints of Alexandria was held in Znamyanka.
