UOC Honors the Memory of His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr
Hierarchs and clergy of the UOC offered memorial prayers in Metropolitan Volodymyr's native village and at his grave in the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra.
On July 5, 2026, on the 12th anniversary of the repose of His Beatitude Metropolitan of Kyiv and All Ukraine Volodymyr, hierarchs and clergy of the UOC offered memorial prayers in his native village and at the place of his burial in the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, reports the Information and Educational Department of the UOC.
In the hometown of the reposed Primate, at the St. Michael's Church in the village of Markovtsy, Khmelnytsky region, a Divine Liturgy was celebrated. The service was led by Metropolitan Nikodem of Zhytomyr and Novograd-Volynsky.
He was co-served by Metropolitan Varsonofiy of Vinnytsia and Bar, Metropolitan Viktor of Khmelnytsky and Starokostyantyniv, local clergy, and guests in holy orders. After the Liturgy, the clergy served a panikhida for His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr.
The hierarchs addressed the faithful with words of remembrance about the reposed Primate. They recalled his many years of service to the Church, his love for people, wisdom, humility, and faithfulness to Christ and the Ukrainian people.
The hierarchs and clergy also visited the local cemetery, where the parents of His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr – Markiyan and Feodosia Sabodany – as well as his relatives are buried. At their graves, Metropolitan Viktor served a memorial litiya, after which the archpastors visited the house where the future Primate of the UOC was born.
