TRC abducts protodeacon of UOC’s Volodymyr-Volynsky Eparchy
The eparchy said Protodeacon Bohdan Rudnychok was taken near his home after a church service and brought to a TRC office in Rivne.
On July 7, at around 12:00, Protodeacon Bohdan Rudnychok, a cleric of the UOC’s Volodymyr-Volynsky Eparchy, was detained near his own home in the city of Volodymyr, Volyn region. This was reported on the eparchy’s Facebook page.
According to relatives, the cleric was taken after returning home from a church service. It later became known that the protodeacon was in Rivne at a territorial recruitment center; according to preliminary information, he was taken there on the day of his detention.
The eparchy asked the faithful to pray for Fr. Bohdan. The statement noted that the case of Protodeacon Rudnychok raises serious concern, as it involves the detention of a cleric without proper respect for his rights.
The eparchy also stated that after being taken to military units or training grounds, clerics effectively lose the ability to defend themselves through legal means. The eparchy stressed that coercion, lawlessness and forceful methods cannot be tools of a state governed by the rule of law.
As the UOJ previously reported, a cleric of the Rivne Eparchy was sent to a military unit after being mobilized.
