TCC Abducted a Protodeacon of the Volodymyr-Volyn Diocese of the UOC
The diocese reported that Protodeacon Bohdan Rudnychok was taken near his home after a church service and brought to the TCC in Rivne
On July 7, at around 12:00, near his own home in Volodymyr, Volyn region, a cleric of the Volodymyr-Volyn Diocese of the UOC, Protodeacon Bohdan Rudnychok, was detained. This was reported on the diocese's Facebook page.
According to relatives, the clergyman was taken after he returned home from a church service. It later became known that the protodeacon is in Rivne at the territorial recruitment center; according to preliminary information, he was brought there on the day of his detention.
The diocese asked the faithful to pray for Father Bohdan. The statement notes that the case of Protodeacon Rudnychok raises serious concern, as it involves the detention of a clergyman without proper observance of his rights.
The authors of the publication stated that after being brought to military units or training grounds, clerics effectively lose the ability to defend themselves by legal means. The diocese emphasized that coercion, lawlessness, and the use of force cannot be instruments of a law-governed state.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that a cleric of the Rivne Diocese was sent to a military unit following mobilization.
