Volodymyr-Volynsky Eparchy reports number of mobilized and fallen clergy
The UOC’s Volodymyr-Volynsky Eparchy said 18 clergy and monastics have been affected by mobilization, disappearances, death, and actions by the TRC.
The Volodymyr-Volynsky Eparchy of the UOC has reported 18 clergy and monastics affected by mobilization, disappearances, death, and actions by the TRC. This was stated on the eparchy’s Facebook page.
The eparchy said that during the war, 14 of its clergy and monastics were drafted into the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Another two clerics are listed as missing, one deacon was killed, and the abduction of Protodeacon Bohdan Rudnyk near his own home in Volodymyr was cited as a separate case.
According to the published list, those drafted include:
Archimandrite Mykolai (Viktor Zinchuk);
Archpriest Petro Cholak;
Archpriest Bohdan Hnatiuk;
Archpriest Petro Rud;
Archpriest Serhiy Saviievskyi;
Archpriest Vitalii Tsumyk;
Archpriest Ioann Chyryk;
Archpriest Vitalii Chaban;
Archpriest Vitalii Miakota;
Archpriest Bohdan Katsevych;
Hieromonk Ioann (Vladyslav Baranovskyi);
Protodeacon Zabrodotskyi;
Protodeacon Bohdan Rudnyk;
Monk Vlasii (Ihor Volokh).
Among those listed as missing, the eparchy named Archpriest Yurii Khavura and Archpriest Andrii Olasiuk. It also reported the death of Deacon Mykolai Matviienko.
Separately, the eparchy reported the abduction of Protodeacon Bohdan Rudnyk. According to the eparchy, on July 7 at around 12:00, he was taken near his own home in Volodymyr after returning from a church service. Preliminary reports said the cleric was brought to the TRC in Rivne.
The Volodymyr-Volynsky Eparchy of the UOC stressed that the list is not merely statistics but evidence of a serious legal crisis. According to the eparchy, many clergy have been detained with the use of force and without observance of procedural norms.
After being taken to military units or training grounds, the eparchy noted, clerics are effectively deprived of the opportunity to fully defend their lawful rights. The eparchy stated that coercion, lawlessness, and forcible abductions of citizens cannot be instruments of a state governed by the rule of law.
As the UOJ previously reported, the TRC abducted a protodeacon of the UOC’s Volodymyr-Volynsky Eparchy.
