Vučić discusses protection of Kosovo shrines with Trump’s 'spiritual advisor'
The Serbian president said protecting the spiritual heritage of the Serbian Church remains a priority issue on the international agenda.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić discussed the protection of Orthodox holy sites in Kosovo and Metohija with Pastor Mark Burns, who describes himself as a spiritual advisor to Donald Trump. The meeting was reported by Orthodoxia News Agency.
During the talks, the two focused on the situation of the Serbian people and the preservation of the region’s rich spiritual heritage. Vučić stressed that respect for religious freedom and human rights is “vital” for ensuring security in the province.
“I emphasized that it is extremely important to respect the religious freedoms and rights of all people and to ensure peace and security for our people,” the Serbian leader said. The participants also expressed confidence that shared values – faith, family, and freedom – would provide a foundation for further strengthening ties between Serbia and the United States.
Vučić also thanked Burns for honoring the memory of innocent Serbian victims in Bratunac and for helping convey the message that historical truth must be preserved for future generations. Following the meeting, the president reiterated that protecting the cultural and spiritual heritage of the Serbian Orthodox Church remains a priority issue in Serbia’s international agenda.
Earlier, the American pastor was received by Serbian Patriarch Porfirije at the Patriarchal Palace. The two discussed strengthening ties between the two Christian countries and peoples.
