In 2025, the name Muhammad was given to 5,957 boys in England and Wales, while Olivia became the leader among girls' names for the tenth year in a row.

The name Muhammad has topped the ranking of the most popular names for newborn boys in England and Wales for the third year in a row, reports The Sun, citing data from the UK Office for National Statistics.

In 2025, 5,957 boys were named Muhammad. Noah took second place in the ranking, and Leo came third. The top ten was completed by Luca, Arthur, Oliver, George, Oscar, Theodore and Freddie.

Among newborn girls, the name Olivia remains the most popular for the tenth year in a row. Last year, 2,386 girls were given this name. Lily moved up to second place, overtaking Amelia.

The top ten most common girls' names also included Isla, Florence, Freya, Poppy, Elsie, Ivy and Isabella.

The ranking was compiled on the basis of official birth registration data for England and Wales for the 2025 calendar year. In total, the statistical office published lists of the 100 most popular names for boys and girls.
