Metropolitan Pimen led the festive celebrations at the Mezhyrichi Monastery marking 35 years since the restoration of monastic life.

The Holy Trinity Mezhyrichi Monastery has celebrated the 35th anniversary of the revival of monastic life within its walls, according to the Rivne Eparchy.

The festivities at the Volyn monastery on the feast of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul were led by Metropolitan Pimen of Rivne and Ostroh, concelebrating with the monastery’s abbot, Archimandrite Theodor (Melnychuk), the brotherhood, and clergy of the eparchy.

During the Divine Liturgy in the monastery’s main church, prayers were offered for peace in Ukraine, deliverance from the enemy, and protection for those who have lost their homes. In his address to the faithful, Metropolitan Pimen stressed the importance of unity and sincere mercy amid the country’s ongoing trials.

“May the Lord, through the prayers of the chief apostles, strengthen us in the faith and grant peace to our people,” the hierarch said. “I wish the monastery’s brotherhood God’s help in their ministry, spiritual growth, and many blessed years.”

The anniversary celebrations concluded with a solemn procession around the monastery walls and a joint prayer service.

The Holy Trinity Monastery is one of the oldest Orthodox shrines in the region. It was founded in the 16th century by Prince Konstanty Ostrogski. After a long period of decline, monastic life was restored there in 1991. Today, the monastery remains an important spiritual center of the Rivne region, preserving centuries-old monastic traditions and welcoming pilgrims from across Ukraine.

As the UOJ previously reported, the St. George Metochion in Rivne also recently marked an anniversary of its monastic community.
