Dumenko calls for developing Lavra “as a pan-Christian shrine”
Dumenko called for the “Russian world” to be eradicated from the Lavra once and for all.
OCU head Epifaniy Dumenko has called for the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra to be developed as “a Ukrainian and pan-Christian shrine.” He made the statement during events marking the opening of the Far Caves, the OCU press service reports.
In his address, Dumenko thanked the government and lawmakers for their “unity and resilience” under the current circumstances. He said it was necessary to finally “eradicate the spirit of the Russian world,” which, he claimed, had dominated the monastery for the past several decades.
The OCU head said prayers for the Ukrainian military and the state should be heard continuously within the walls of the Lavra. He urged those present to continue working for the good of their homeland.
As the UOJ previously reported, the UGCC criticized Epifaniy for awarding Uniate officials.
