The Bishops' Council of the OCU declared "the desperate attempts of pro-Russian forces to obstruct the reconciliation" between Dumenko and Denysenko.

The OCU stated that the history of the Filaret schism, which began in 2019, has come to an end. This was stated in the statement of the Bishops' Council on July 15, 2026, signed by Serhiy Dumenko.

The "hierarchs" who convened in the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, seized from the UOC, announced that "despite the desperate attempts of pro-Russian forces and other opponents of OCU unity to obstruct the reconciliation" between Serhiy Dumenko and Filaret Denysenko, "we were able to overcome the crisis that arose in 2019."

The statement does not specify which forces were obstructing the reconciliation between Dumenko and Filaret, nor what that reconciliation actually entailed. The OCU "hierarchs" in their statement refer to the fact that for the first time they are celebrating the day of the Baptism of Rus' at St. Volodymyr's Cathedral, where Filaret served throughout his life.

As a reminder, Filaret, who restored his Kyiv Patriarchate shortly after the OCU was created, declared the independence of his structure until the end of his days and forbade representatives of Dumenko's organization from burying him.
